The IPO Fund — 2021 Q4 Update
We launched the IPO fund on Oct 05,2020. It currently holds 8 stocks.
Asana has been the surprise of the year. We invested at a price of $25.34 per share in 2020 and now it worth $116.10 per share. An incredible 4.5X return.
In 2021 we added 5 new positions.
Airbnb
“Airbnb, Inc. is an American company that operates an online marketplace for lodging, primarily homestays for vacation rentals, and tourism activities.”
Coursera
“Coursera Inc. is an American massive open online course provider founded in 2012 by Stanford University computer science professors Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller.”
DigitalOcean
“DigitalOcean, Inc. is an American cloud infrastructure provider headquartered in New York City with data centers worldwide.”
Duolingo
“Duolingo is an American language-learning website and mobile app, as well as a digital language proficiency assessment exam.”
GitLab
“GitLab is a web-based DevOps lifecycle tool that provides a Git repository manager providing wiki, issue-tracking and continuous integration and deployment pipeline features.”
Because Asana stock price went up a lot we decided to sell some of that position and allocate the funds into new positions.
For 2021 with 2.5 months remaining until the end of the year, we have already reached the limit of total stocks we can purchase within a year (3–5).
Overall Portfolio Performance
Invested: $36,803 Current value: $49,844 P/L: $16,950
That is a 46.1% return on investment. Not bad at all!
Do we outperform?
If we had invested the same amount into an S&P 500 index ETF using dollar cost averaging our total P/L to date would be 20.0%
So far we are outperforming the index by 26.1%
